CNA Convention30 Jun, 2012 | Posted by: Shelly

Hilda and I had a wonderful, productive time in Vancouver, BC having met plenty of other interest group members and being able to share the goals and direction of our association with many convention participants. We were particularly thrilled to speak not only to the new President of CNA, Barb Mildon RN PhD CHE CCHN(C), and the new President-Elect, Karima Velji RN PhD CHE, but to connect with so many passionate nurses across Canada and discuss ongoing environmental health issues relevant to Canadians. The CNA Declaration endorsed the need for Canada to protect the environmental gains made, instead of stripping relevant regulations through the passage of Bill C-38. CNHE will continue to work with our partners at CNA and across the country to ensure that environmental issues remains on the forefront of the public agenda.

Wonderful day at CNA AGM18 Jun, 2012 | Posted by: Shelly

Had a great, engaging & thought provoking first day at the CNA convention......met so many wonderful nurses and shared so many experiences with colleagues.

CNA endorsed an important declaration re: Bill C-38, with an innovative poster that allowed delegates to provide written comments that will be presented to government officials. The declaration states in part: "The CNA believes that action must be taken to prevent this systematic dismantling of....environmental protection measures and investments in health and...declares that the registered nurses of Canada will speak out to protect the integrity of essential programs."

We had an exciting day today at the AGM....much news to share! Will be sending out the minutes within a week....but there has been much discussion about our strategic direction, collaboration with CNA and developing a stronger membership base and engaging in political advocacy.
